Earth II – Reborn

I just passed the 100,000 word mark on my new novel “Earth II-Reborn”. At first, I didn’t expect it to go much above 100,000 words but as I’ve got into it, the story grew. If I follow my current outline, I think it will end up between 110,000 and 120,000 words which will translate to something between 350 and 450 pages, which I hope isn’t too large for an EBook.

I have to admit, the story of virtually all of the people on Earth dying from an alien virus then covering the rebuilding of new Earth is a large story. In fact, if I did it thoroughly it could take 3-4 books.

I enjoy the first pass through a new story. It gives me the chance to define some fun ‘evil’ characters and get to know the heroes. To me, I have to get personal with them, and giving them a personality and building their strengths and weaknesses. This is the fun part of writing novels,  when the author has absolute power over the characters; who wins and who dies.
